Finland’s Climate Clinics: turning dialogue into climate adaptation action and learning
Making adaptation work starts with good governance. 🇫🇮 Discover how Finland’s National Adaptation Hub is connecting people, sharing knowledge and strengthening collaboration.
Good governance is central to turning climate adaptation plans into action. In Finland, the National Adaptation Hub is supporting this process through Climate Clinics, dedicated dialogue-based sessions connecting municipal and regional practitioners with national adaptation experts. Held as part of regional climate seminars in Vaasa on 18 September and Jyväskylä on 8 October, the clinics provided a space to exchange experiences and explore practical challenges in implementing adaptation measures. Participants joined themed discussion tables covering climate data and scenarios, nature-based solutions, adaptation governance at municipal and regional levels, and private sector engagement.
Experts from National Adaptation Hub institutions supported each table, while members of the National Climate Unit facilitated the conversations. This format encouraged peer learning and networking, bringing together perspectives from different levels of governance. Adaptation governance prompted particularly lively exchanges, highlighting a strong interest in strengthening regional adaptation through collaboration and knowledge sharing. Participant feedback reinforced the value of the format: attendees appreciated the roundtable discussions and called for further opportunities for dialogue on topics relevant to current regional needs.
Finland’s Climate Clinics illustrate how structured dialogue can connect expertise with local experience and support collaborative approaches to adaptation.
